I had the pleasure to work again with the amazing Austin photographer Tyler Schmitt. This time the venue was full of modern elegance – Biga On Tha Banks. Stephanie and Kristopher held an intimate ceremony with the reception on the 3rd floor. The venue has a great outdoor patio that overlooks the San Antonio River!

Wedding – Geralyn & David

Geralyn & David got married at Granburry Hills. It was supposed to be outside in front of the gazebo, but it had been raining all day and so they moved the ceremony to under the covered patio. The ceremony was held inside the “barn”.. Which really isn’t a barn at all and is quite a beautiful room with windows down both long sides to let in all kinds of natural light.

This truly was a family affair! The Brides maids were the daughters, the groomsman was the son. Even the baby granddaughter was there!

The day started out with the Bride helping get her two daughters/bridesmaids ready:

Wedding – Sam & Natasha

It was a hot August summer day here in San Antonio when Sam & Natasha said their I Do’s! But even with the heat, the bride was stunning and beautiful and the groom all smiles and handsome!

But before they headed out into the heat the guys got ready at a really cool little hotel called Aloft. Eric was over there getting shots of the guys getting ready, and got some great photos of them in the lobby and bar!

The wedding was at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. I love this part of the gardens – with its picturesque pond, trees and cabin in the woods. It made for the perfect backdrop to their ceremony.

Wedding – Stacey & Jeremy

It was an offer I couldn’t refuse! A fellow photographer asked if I wanted to come help him out with a hot July night wedding….. Out near Beaumont, Tx! normally I wouldn’t drive that far (about 4.5 hours) to help out on a wedding. But my sister lives in Houston and my brand new little niece is barely 2 weeks old! So I had a great excuse to head east and help out a great photographer and see my new baby niece (oh, and my sis.. lol)

Stacey & Jeremy were super sweet! They had their wedding planned in their backyard, but this was not your normal backyard wedding! They had the use of theirs and the neighbors big yards – so there was plenty of room for the ceremony and reception tent. The skies turned dark while they were getting ready… and the rain came down! But then the skies cleared and we were in the clear.

Oh so we thought. The ceremony got started and was half way through when they opened back up and we had a sudden downpour! The bride and groom took it in stride and didn’t skip a beat and finished the ceremony. Luckily most guests brought umbrellas and we had a few to get to the wedding party.

We all took a shower mid-ceremony, but talk about a clean start to their marriage, right?!

Stacey was torn between wearing her Mom’s wedding gown or a new one, so she came up with a wonderful suprise. She had her Mom’s dress altered to a coctail length and wore it during the reception. This is her grandma checking it out and giving her approval!

This was the first time I have been invited to shoot out at the new River Rock Event Center in Fair Oaks Ranch, and what a beautiful Texas Hill Country location! And what a cute, sweet young couple!

The little flower girl made the cutest faces!

The bridesmaids had the bride laughing while they sang “going to the chapel” complete with a spontaneous unrehearsed dance!

Beautiful details! and I loved to bright colors on the cake and the bouquets!

Wedding – Marc & Jennifer

I met Marc and Jennifer at a wedding fair back in February. I was sooo excited that they liked me and my work so much that they booked me there at the fair! I’m sooo glad they did! What a beautiful couple and a great venue the Dancing Bear Ranch clubhouse turned out to be! It’s an intimate setting with amazing views of Medina Lake.

Wedding – Stephanie & Valentin

Stephanie, Valentin & Family live up in the DFW area, but got married last weekend at the beautiful historic Travis Park United Methodist Church in downtown San Antonio. I have driven by this church many times, but this was my first time inside. The Bride’s getting ready area was complete with a whole wall of floor-to-ceiling mirrors and chandeliers! Gorgeous! While we were in the beautiful room- the boys were getting ready in the children’s nursery room… heehee They didn’t mind though.. in fact we have proof of them playing with the toys and shooting hoops from the floor.

What a great group!

After the ceremony officiated by Valentin’s Father, the Bride & Groom were whisked away in a beautiful white classic Bentley while the wedding party went to the reception in stretch-hummer style! While they rode around the the stocked hummer limo, we followed the Bentley over to the McNay for some after-wedding photos of the adorable new couple. Unfortunately with older.. umm I mean “classic” cars.. there can be issues. As the driver found out when he left the car running while we took off for photos. We came back to find the hood steaming and a big puddle of water under the car!

The driver was great! Placed one call and they had another ride there in about 10 minutes to whisk the couple off to their perfectly PINK reception at the Pearl Stables (former home of the Pearl Beer Brewery).

The new Mr & Mrs then made their entrance though a Marine Arch (complete with sword swat!). The location was great, the decorations beautiful, the food delicious, the band live, and the DJ rockin’!

Was a good night….

Wedding – Megan & Patrick (Austin)

I have known Megan since about 2002-ish when we used to meet up randomly on 6th street to see our mutal friends in a band. She was always so fun to hang out with and could cheer up any room. So needless to say I was overly excited when Megan called to say she was engaged and asked me to shoot her wedding!

We did Megan & Patricks Engagment session around Austin last September and had a blast!

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Megan and her friend Jacq to shoot the bridals. We had a blast and laughed the whole time!

Last Saturday the day finally came for the wedding.

Megan & Patrick had a few specials surprises for everyone during the ceremony. One of the BM’s sung a song in German and English that was sung at Megan’s parents wedding by her grandmother. Then as the song for their first dance, Megan & Patrick actually went to a studio and recorded their own song! They are so good that I didn’t even realize it was them until afterwords. Then it made sense why they were singing it to each other during the dance. You guys ROCK!!!!

Lastly, little did Patrick know that Megan had been sneaky and secured a yellow convertible corvette as their get-away vehicle! We had the crowd move outside and block the view of the vette. Then we had Patrick say… “Moooove that crowd!” The look on his face when he saw the car was priceless. He was stunned and amazed and elated! GREAT job Megan!

I wish years of happiness to you two!

Wedding – Adela & Jesse (Canyon Springs GC)

It was joked a few times at this wedding that I am slowly becoming the official family photographer for this group! This was the third wedding of theirs that I’ve been invited to shoot! ! !

Adela and Jesse had their ceremony and reception out at the beautiful Canyon Springs Golf Course. The green grass and the gorgeous blue sky made an amazing backdrop to an adorable couples union! Their 2 lovely daughters were in the ceremony as the flower girls. They looked as beautiful as their mother… well almost! heehee

The ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was a party! Black & White of the bridal cake was stunning in the rock-walled room. And the groom is an aspiring chef – so, naturally, the grooms cake was a tall chefs hat – complete with a heart whisk!

When the music started the guests, especially the children, made great use of the dance floor. They were spinning, twirling, and even doing headstands! After the kiddos took off for bedtime, the adults took the dance floor over. Adela and her girlfriends were having a blast! The night ended up with a conga-ish line around the floor.

Hopefully there are more weddings planned in this family… and hopefully they will call on my services again! I’d love to be there again for them!

Wedding: Cassandra & Vance (Marraige Island)

Cassandra contacted me this summer about covering their wedding. It was just going to be a short ceremony on Marriage Island (downtown on the San Antonio Riverwalk) and just the 2 of them. After talking for a while, I found out that they were coming all the way down from Minnesota, just to get married on our riverwalk! I thought that was too cool to pass up!

For them, the ceremony went off perfect and it was great that both sets of parents and Vances daughter were able to make it down as well… the more the merrier!

For me, the ceremony was slightly more painful.. lol The stones on Marriage Island aren’t set in very firm and (of course) I found the one stone that was loose and higher than the others and took quite a spill! Luckily all I ended up with was a good size bruise on my knee where I landed and I cracked a filter on my camera… Luckily it wasn’t enough to effect the functioning of the camera… but that is why a professional photographer always carries at LEAST two camera bodies to shoots! So with a small limp we finished the ceremony and got a chance to walk around and take a few good shots of them along the river.
