Back in the summer of 2003 I knew I wanted my own &#8220;domain&#8221; and so I needed to find a name I liked. I tried variations of my name, but just couldn&#8217;t seem to find anything that I liked that wasn&#8217;t already taken.</span></span></div>
<p><span style="color:#663366;"></p>
<div><span style="color:#663366;"><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;">So day after day I went around (slightly obsessed with this project) and put .com at the end of everything I saw &#8211; street signs, names, billboard wordings &#8211; just to find something I liked. One day I am sitting at a red light with a few CD&#8217;s that I had just ordered from CD Baby of artists that were going to be on The Rock Boat cruise that I was going to be going on in a couple of weeks. I had never really heard anything by any of these people, so I was just scanning down the backs of the CD&#8217;s putting .com at the end of all the different song titles.</span> </span></div>
<div><a href="http://www.otherthanroses.com/Pics/alexwoodard2.jpg"><span style="color:#663366;"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 187px; float: left; height: 164px; cursor: hand;" src="http://www.otherthanroses.com/Pics/alexwoodard2.jpg" border="0" alt="" height="226" /></span></a><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;color:#663366;">After going thru 2 or 3 CD&#8217;s I came across the CD Saturn Returns by </span><a href="http://www.alexwoodard.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;color:#663366;">Alex Woodard</span></a><span style="color:#663366;"><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;">. I read thru the first three songs and nothing. And then I scanned the fourth song &#8211; Other Than Roses and added .com to the end. I paused, but then kept going. At the next light I read it over again. I kinda liked it. So I took the cellophane wrapper off the CD and opened it and popped it into the car player. I liked the song, got home and emailed Alex and asked if I could use &#8220;OtherThanRoses&#8221; as my domain name. He said SURE!</span></span><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;">To view the lyrics and his explanation of the song &#8211; </span><a href="http://www.otherthanroses.com/alex.html"><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;color:#663366;">go here</span></a><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;color:#663366;"> </span></div>
