Wedding – Allison & Scott

Allison & Scott were married outside on the deck of the beautiful Spinelli’s Vistro & Country Inn in Boerne, Tx. The weather was gorgeous and we even had a rainbow right before dusk! The kids were adorable at this wedding!

The reception was held inside on the second floor and was a lovely venue with dark paneling, big windows and colorful art! The guest loved the food (especially the shrimp appetizers)!

I was shooting with Eric of Downtown Imagery for this wedding and got the honor to be in with Allison while she was getting ready. This was a great fun couple and we wish the best in starting out their new life!

I met up with Lori on a beautiful morning at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. We were meeting up to do a photo shoot of her to send off to her deployed husband.

Lori is such a beautiful girl with a cute sweet personality… he is one lucky soldier!!

OpLove – Maternity

The cutest couple! This was a ‘rush’ session. She called me and wanted the session and the book before he took off since he wouldn’t be able to get her a mailing address for a few months. She is pregnant with their first baby and he will be deployed for the birth. Oh, and we had to include their pup Jake in the session!

Wedding – Stephanie & Valentin

Stephanie, Valentin & Family live up in the DFW area, but got married last weekend at the beautiful historic Travis Park United Methodist Church in downtown San Antonio. I have driven by this church many times, but this was my first time inside. The Bride’s getting ready area was complete with a whole wall of floor-to-ceiling mirrors and chandeliers! Gorgeous! While we were in the beautiful room- the boys were getting ready in the children’s nursery room… heehee They didn’t mind though.. in fact we have proof of them playing with the toys and shooting hoops from the floor.

What a great group!

After the ceremony officiated by Valentin’s Father, the Bride & Groom were whisked away in a beautiful white classic Bentley while the wedding party went to the reception in stretch-hummer style! While they rode around the the stocked hummer limo, we followed the Bentley over to the McNay for some after-wedding photos of the adorable new couple. Unfortunately with older.. umm I mean “classic” cars.. there can be issues. As the driver found out when he left the car running while we took off for photos. We came back to find the hood steaming and a big puddle of water under the car!

The driver was great! Placed one call and they had another ride there in about 10 minutes to whisk the couple off to their perfectly PINK reception at the Pearl Stables (former home of the Pearl Beer Brewery).

The new Mr & Mrs then made their entrance though a Marine Arch (complete with sword swat!). The location was great, the decorations beautiful, the food delicious, the band live, and the DJ rockin’!

Was a good night….

E-Session – Will & Kirsten (Japanese Tea Gardens)

My 2nd shooter Eric and I had the fun opportunity to shoot some engagement pictures for the cutest couple! Will, who is in the military and stationed here in San Antonio set it all up for Kirsten’s Birthday weekend. Kirsten is finishing up school up in Kentucky so when we got together they hadn’t seen each other in 5 weeks!!!!

They were fun, playful and most of the shots we got were of them just being them (my favorite kinds of shots).

many cool shots. But I still got some good ones…sooo practice runs. I came home with about 900 shots… Most of them near catches of the planes. You really have to be fast to catch them and keep them focused. Even at 3.5 FPS (frames per second) on my camera, I still missed theirI headed across the street from work today and took some shots of the planes as they did

For those who don’t know… I was married to an active duty Air Force enlisted man for 13 years, have worked with the military community in some fashion for about 20 years, and I am currently engaged to a Firefighter on Lackland AFB. Over the years of living in the ’system’, volunteering on base and working as a Civil Servant here on Lackland for the past 8 years… I have seen and lived through deployments, reassignments, separation’s and the hardships that ALL military families suffer through.

That is the reason I work with Operation Love ReUnited and made available a Military Discount on my sessions and prints.

A month or so ago I received an invitation to sign up as a vendor on a site called MilitaryAvenue.com and my profile mentions my “military discount”. Military Avenue.com knows that finding military-friendly businesses in new communities and resources that aid our mobile lifestyle can become an overwhelming task. Their site was created to attempt to ease these burdens! I haven’t been tracking how many people it has driven to my site, but I have it out there just in case one family sees it and wants to take me up on the offer.

Today in my email I get this:

Wedding – Masey (San Antonio Botanical Gardens)

I had a short notice call from a fellow photographer who wanted some help for a very small wedding at the Botanical Gardens the next day. My schedule was free – so I said, sure – why not! I’m always up for the gardens. They have so many beautiful backdrops for photos!!!

The couple was awesome! She was in this amazing dress and heels and still willing and eager to walk all over the garden paths – even to the back cabin! Bless her heart – she had it lifted up to her knees in the front, and the groom was dutifully carrying the train from the behind as she stepped over logs and dirt trails!

After all of that i wasn’t surprised to learn that he is an Active Duty Marine, and she is a former Marine. So I guess that explains their willingness to traipse all over without a second thought!

I don’t have much background on this homecoming… I was actually at the airport for another scheduled homecoming that had been rescheduled.. but I didn’t get the message.

So as I was walking around the terminal making sure I hadn’t missed the family I was supposed to meet when I saw a Mom and 2 kids with balloons and signs. I had some OpLove brochures on me and I walked up to her and introduced myself and asked if I could capture some photos for them. She said sure and so I did. She emailed me a couple of weeks later and I sent her off the photos. She was very excited to have memories of the day, and I was glad I just happened to be there for them!

I received a call from a rushed sister on a Tuesday afternoon. Her big brother is in the Army and was being deployed to the desert that Saturday. She had just found out about the Operation Love Reunited (OpLove) program and wanted to know if I could manage to get some photos of her brother Amedeaus and the family before he left.

Well – how could I say no!

We met up at Elmendorf Lake Park (right behind OLLU) Thursday evening and grabbed as many shots as could.
