Wedding: Cassandra & Vance (Marraige Island)

Cassandra contacted me this summer about covering their wedding. It was just going to be a short ceremony on Marriage Island (downtown on the San Antonio Riverwalk) and just the 2 of them. After talking for a while, I found out that they were coming all the way down from Minnesota, just to get married on our riverwalk! I thought that was too cool to pass up!

For them, the ceremony went off perfect and it was great that both sets of parents and Vances daughter were able to make it down as well… the more the merrier!

For me, the ceremony was slightly more painful.. lol The stones on Marriage Island aren’t set in very firm and (of course) I found the one stone that was loose and higher than the others and took quite a spill! Luckily all I ended up with was a good size bruise on my knee where I landed and I cracked a filter on my camera… Luckily it wasn’t enough to effect the functioning of the camera… but that is why a professional photographer always carries at LEAST two camera bodies to shoots! So with a small limp we finished the ceremony and got a chance to walk around and take a few good shots of them along the river.

Wedding: April & Keith (Floresville)

One night in May I got a call from my Fiance’, Aaron, saying that his Fire Chief wanted to talk to me. ummmmmm What did I do? He laughed and said that his daughter was getting Married and wanted to have me come in and talk about hiring me to shoot it. ~whew~ was I glad I wasn’t in trouble.. or that I had somehow got Aaron in trouble… lol

The wedding and reception were held at The Sacred Heart church in Floresville. It was such a lovely chapel and was a great place to get to shoot a wedding! Due to the church having something else scheduled, there was a 4 hour break between the ceremony and the reception. Eric and I were invited to come back to the Chief’s house to kick back and have a snack in the downtime.

Well Eric and I ended up at the dining room table with the brides grandmother and Aunt and chatted almost the entire time. There were both so sweet and it was great getting to talk to them.

Eric and I then headed back to the church reception hall. These two family sure know how to have a party!!! This reception had the most people up dancing and talking of any reception I’ve been to!

Wedding: Marla & Chris (Marriage Island)

Marla & Chris came over from Beaumont to San Antonio to get married on Marriage Island on the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio … which is a little bump off of the main walkway under a beautiful huge cypress tree.

Even though Marla kept telling me she wasn’t photogenic and never looks good in any photos. I thought she was absolutely gorgeous in her dress and had such a sweet big Texas smile…. but I have to admit, even though I liked the shots, that I was worried she would hate them all. I was quite relieved when I got the email back that she loved every photo!!! ~whew~

Chris was the typical groom.. a little tense and not wanting to smile at first. But after the short ceremony he loosened up and Eric and I caught him smiling in a few photos >;-)

E-Session – Will & Kirsten (Japanese Tea Gardens)

My 2nd shooter Eric and I had the fun opportunity to shoot some engagement pictures for the cutest couple! Will, who is in the military and stationed here in San Antonio set it all up for Kirsten’s Birthday weekend. Kirsten is finishing up school up in Kentucky so when we got together they hadn’t seen each other in 5 weeks!!!!

They were fun, playful and most of the shots we got were of them just being them (my favorite kinds of shots).

Mata Family Photos

These photos were taken for the Mata Family. I met Lori at a previous wedding I was shooting over the summer and we talked about her husbands parents upcoming 50th anniversary. They are having a mass and reception in February, but wanted some family photos taken beforehand of all the family together to have on display at the reception.

They showed up in jeans and black shirts and specifically wanted the prints in Black & White. I also took several of the happy couple as well.

They were a fun group to work with and i can’t wait to cover the Mass and reception in a couple of months!

Halloween 2008

I had to take a few shots of my grandsons at Halloween. My Son-In-Law is serving a year in Korea, and my Daughter is over visiting him for a couple of weeks right now. So I wanted to get the pics up for Mom and Dad to see just how cut the babies looked!

Lackland AirFest 2008

many cool shots. But I still got some good ones…sooo practice runs. I came home with about 900 shots… Most of them near catches of the planes. You really have to be fast to catch them and keep them focused. Even at 3.5 FPS (frames per second) on my camera, I still missed theirI headed across the street from work today and took some shots of the planes as they did

For those who don’t know… I was married to an active duty Air Force enlisted man for 13 years, have worked with the military community in some fashion for about 20 years, and I am currently engaged to a Firefighter on Lackland AFB. Over the years of living in the ’system’, volunteering on base and working as a Civil Servant here on Lackland for the past 8 years… I have seen and lived through deployments, reassignments, separation’s and the hardships that ALL military families suffer through.

That is the reason I work with Operation Love ReUnited and made available a Military Discount on my sessions and prints.

A month or so ago I received an invitation to sign up as a vendor on a site called MilitaryAvenue.com and my profile mentions my “military discount”. Military Avenue.com knows that finding military-friendly businesses in new communities and resources that aid our mobile lifestyle can become an overwhelming task. Their site was created to attempt to ease these burdens! I haven’t been tracking how many people it has driven to my site, but I have it out there just in case one family sees it and wants to take me up on the offer.

Today in my email I get this:

Texas Renaissance Festival

Aaron and I headed up north of Houston for the Texas Renaissance Festival and had a great time.. Here are some of the couple of hundred we came home with….

Wedding: Patti & Hoby

Well after having so much fun with Patti shooting her Bridals at the McNay, their engagement session at the Japanese Tea Gardens – It was FINALLY time to get to shoot Patti & Hoby’s wedding day!

The wedding was held at Cornerstone church with the reception following at the gorgeous La Fontana Springs. Patti was glowing and Hoby was quite handsome and the ceremony was beautiful!

I have to commend Patti’s Wedding Coordinator, Debbie Klatt of Event Creations, on the unique decorations. The natural elements and crystals everywhere just added the perfect touch!
